Transylvania County

With more than 250 waterfalls, scenic Transylvania County is framed by the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, Pisgah and Nantahala National Forests, Bracken Mountain Nature Reserve, Gorges State Park and DuPont Recreational State Forest — providing limitless opportunities for a range of outdoor activities including hiking, rock climbing, camping, canoeing, tubing, picnicking, and fishing. There are over 200 miles of bike trails in Transylvania County.

There is also a rich cultural scene in the county – including the prestigious Brevard Music Center, the Brevard Little Theatre, the Transylvania Choral Society, and the Paul Porter Center for Performing Arts, home to the Brevard Philharmonic.

Transylvania County is also home to the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute, a 200-acre campus that includes an observatory, on-site dining, hiking trails, and hands-on space and earth science exhibit galleries.
